Ok call me stupid

I ordered a wolf recoil spring for my 1911 and when I got it I noticed it has tight coils on one end and loose on the other. Which end goes in first? I would think loose in first but as there was no instructions I am not sure.

  Tight end goes over the guide rod first. Wide end goes toward the recoil spring plug.

  one end should be closed, one end open, closed end on guide rod, open on plug end, should be the same as mpolans stated, but after you use it for awhile it could be hard to tell that way
