What is going price for pistol in 90% + condition ? WaA135 : Eagle N proofs. Also holster made from canvas with leather flap with ink german markings on underside of flap. Serial # 8893xx

    I have a .32 Mauser Hsc, which I bought in 1962. (Paid $34.) It has "Mauser-Werke A. G. Oberndorf a. N., Mod Hsc Kal 7.65mm" along with the Mauser logo on the left side of the slide. Some sort of an "R within a 3" (?) proof mark on the left side of the trigger guard. It has serial number 960XXX and dark brown shiny plastic grips. It's in very good condition. Any idea to when it was made?

    According to my reference your HSc is a very late production piece. In fact it was manufacturered for the French after the end of W W II, when they controlled the Mauser factory for a short period of time.

    My WAG is that it would date to the summer or fall of 1945.

    Being that it was made for the French, not sure how it would affect it's value? One way or another?

    R3 marked pistols were property of the Kreigsmarine (German Navy). It was made before the end of the war and before Oberndorf was captured. You didn't ask for the value, but it is a premium

    Here's a picture of a Kreigsmarine HSc from Pancho's excellent site. Kindly note the serial number range he gives for them. Then note the serial number range of mowart's HSc. If mowart's HSc doesn't have any Waffenamt's I don't see how it could have been made before the war and issued to the Kreigsmarine?

    To add more and compare to the picture. My finish is shiny blue, better than that shown. My slide has the red & white spots on the safety lever positions. My mark is a capital "R" on its back with its legs in the open areas of the "3". It's located where the picture has the eagle mark on the trigger guard. And my grips are shiny dark brown plastic.

    Unfortunately given the French HSc's were Parkerized, and the late production German ones had a dull, mat finish. In all probability yours has been commercially refinished.
