holster expert help #2

as many know, im cleaning out my dads gun room and lots of stuff will be going on line. need some help! this looks like a competition rig for right hand. marked jordan holster, don hume, maker, la mesa ca. what gun? 45 9mm? its sorta of bent out for a quick grab. ??? value? now you may ask, how do i have all these holsters and not know what they are for? simple...they were my uncles who was a gun nut like us, (rest his soul,) and dad aquired them. mom says they are mine now. soon to be yours!

    From what I can see of the lines in the leather, it almost reminds me of either a hi-power or 1911 holster.

    Yeah, I'm really thinking 1911. Weren't Jordan holsters the predecessor to the speed holsters? My memory is shot, I dunno

    These are the molded lines I'm seeing, reminds me of a 1911 or hi-power slide.

    It looks like a Jordan model for a 1911. jordan of course was a well known gun writer and border patrolman. His book No Second Place Winner is a classic. He was responsible for the S and W Model 19. He was one of the fastest and most accurate quick shooters in history. He was fun to see. Don Hume was a very well known holster maker in his day. Value?????...who knows....to someone of that era or who remembers these men they might pay a 100 or 2. I bought an Armadd Svenson 1911 that was built by the man himself. I jumped on it with both feet when I heard about it. The dealer said...no one remembers him...a damn shame. It is....that pistol is a part of history. So if you find someone who remembers these things it may bring a few bucks....Now go ahead guys....ask me who Swvenson was....lol

    Shooter, I believe it is spelled Armand Swenson, master gunsmith, who's firearms were owned by celebs and royalty around the world. And a former pro prize fighter to boot.

    But I could be wrong.

    Swenson also made one of the few quality ambi-safety setups for a 1911.

    Your spelling is correct, one of my many failings and I didn't have the gun with me when I answered. He's also the guy who started the whole 1911 customizing craze. this one is interesting in that he shortened the barrel a half an inch. makes you wonde why but the customer is always right. I'm only the second owner of it. The trigger guard was squared and smith and wesson k fframe sights installed, an old way of lowering and having adjustable sights. I have them on all my 1911's. the guy who had it built never blued the work done on it just carried it in the white. It's rust blued now.

    The holster looks like my Jordan style that was made for me by Milt Sparks. They were basically carry holsters--not concealed carry--made for the police and others. I would guess for the 1911 but I'm just guessing. I had the strap left off mine and a tension screw added , and the belt loop lowered to carry the pistol higher. Swensen made great pistols. He was one of the first smiths that guaranteed his accuracy. If I remember right he guaranteed 1" at 50 yards. By the way, I had one of the early Hume Jordan style holsters also but let a deputy sheriff have it. As to value, I am not a collector and don't keep up with collector prices. But I would think that it would be worth at least $65. to $75 dollars as I doubt that you could get it made for less.

    Definately a better gunsmith than a prize fighter, but a stand out in both fields!
