winchester 22 auto Model 1903
I have a winchester 22 auto Model 1903 cereal # 65137, 2 pc breakdown rear tube feed. Front pump push button feed. 19 1/2 " barrel.
It's in very nice shape except it has been re-varnished.
Blueing is worn or patina.
Winchester offered my dad ANY gun he wanted and cash for the gun but he refused.
Does anyone know it's value??

Hi; Barnes says all 03 were take downs. All barrels were 20 inch. Deluxe guns were checkered. All metal parts were blued. The rifle takes a special 22 cartridge. Ordinary shells will not chamber correctly . Perhaps there is something you havent described about the gun. Blue Book of gun valuses offers prices according to conditon. Good luck.

Accvording to one web site I can find, the date of Manufacture for yours was 1911. Don't hold me to that. Some of the sites are entirely wrong.
Old Western Scrounger has ammo for it if you'd rather shoot it than sell it. I sure would. It's a nice old gun. I have a model 63 made in 1941 that is the standard .22 LR version, and I wouldn't sell it for anything!

I too have a 63 that was my father's and I also wouldn't trade it for anything. My dad had a 1903 before the war, but when he was overseas a "friend" borrowed it and a horse rolled over it and destroyed it.
The prices listed by oldgunner seem about right from what I've seen. I wonder why Winchester want's it so bad?.

Any "old" collectable Winchester that has been refinished (even just the stocks), is at best a 30% specimen. Your particular rifle will be something less than that due to the worn/patina'd bluing. As such, its retail value will be less than $250.
As for Winchester offering your father ANY gun he wanted AND ca$h... I am personally very very skeptical of that story. The Model 1903 became obselete in the mid 1930s due to the special ammmo it used, and was subsequently replaced by the Model 63.
