I picked up a M-44 today. Markings on receiver are.
296 (first line)
4 Chinese symbols (second line)
1955.3. (third line)
13918xx (fourth line)
Bolt and stock same serial #
Rough stock & bore, not much finish. Seller said Vietnam bring back. Anything anyone could tell me would be appreciated. Cost was 50.00 so I figured I could not get hurt too bad.

  Hey guys,
  
  I have a mint set of '44 Marine corp Jungle Fatigues I am looking to sell. Any Idea who to contact to get a value? I know it has nothing to do with firearms, but I figured I would ask. I was going through a sea chest in my Grandmothers attic. The uniform belonged to my Great uncle.

  Chinese version of the Russian Mosin-Nagant Model 44. It's known as the Chinese Type 53. Yours was made in 1955.
  
  The Chinese didn't make them past 1960, as they were obsolete. SKS's and AK's were in production.
