Charles Daly Rimfire Rifles

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with one of the "Charles Daly" line of rimfire rifles. I saw one the other day (superior model) in .22 l.r. at a store. The rifle was priced at under $200.00. It appeared to be of pretty good quality from the outside especially considering the price. The wood was nothing to write home about but I have seen worse on rifles costing more. I was more impressed by the overall quality of the metal work more than the wood. The bluing was actually quite nice and polished pretty well. The bolt appeared to operate pretty smooth as well as the safety. Another thing that impressed me was that it had an all steel trigger guard not plastic or aluminum. What I would like to know is how potentially accurate they are as compared to another low end rimfire such as a CZ. Also how are the trigger pulls as they come from the factory and can they be worked on by a do it yourselfer with any chance of success. Thank You

    The Charles Daly pistols are actually produced by Armscor in the Philippines. The basic pistols are sound, but there are so many complaints of bad triggers, accuracy problems, parts breaking and overall poor workmanship that even their custom beaver tailed, guide rodded upper models were only good for their frame and receiver. Yes, they're only $329, but a match grade barrel (standard on many other upper end 1991's), was at least $120, and then the other upgrades (night sights, mag well, nicer grips), would put me in the $600+ range and all I'd have is a imported 1911 copy. For the price, the Daly was tempting, but I simply don't want to mod a pistol that's already modded but doesn't have decent parts.

    Their shotguns are a pretty decent entry gun and from what I hear the rifles are pretty decent, too, but the quality varies from rifle to rifle. Sorry, I've never owned one of their rifles - I have to rely on what I hear from owners at the range.

    Daly's are inexpensive low end quality firearms made in the Phillipines. If I had to choose a .22 under $200 you have a ton of choices much better than the Daly. Marlin is a good place to start if you want bolt. If semi than the 10/22 is the only way to go in that price range.

    Calling CZ "Low End" is fightin words. You had best just get back in your escalade and drive back to the big city where you can really enjoy your Kimbers and browning 22's that won't shoot 1/4 as well as a CZ.

    .22 l.r askes about a .22 rifle and all you can do is rag about thier crappie pistols. I looked at the c.d. rifles at Houston (NRA convention)last month and they looked very well made (mgf. in yugoslavia but not cz) I also bough one of thier mini mausers in .22 hornet and it shoots very well.

    How about Remington,Marlin, and Ruger .22's.They aren't cheap rifles.They'r under the two hundred buck limit.
