Removing arming bolt from Benelli M3

I've torn my thumb and index finger to the point of heavy bleeding trying to "tear off the arming bolt" as the manual says to do for this Super 90 and it just won't budge. Any information on removing this piece would be greatly appreciated.

  If it's fairly new, it can be very tight.
  I take it, it's the little handle that you can pull the bolt open with..
  
  If it's close to what a Super Black Eagle semiauto is..
  
  Then try opening the bolt fully.
  Without getting near the button that releases the bolt, push back on the bolt head (the one that locks into the barrel)
  Pull the arming bolt handle-thingy.

  With two broken thumbs ,I have to use a rubber paded needle nose vise grip pliers.I wrapped electrical rubber tape around the tips of the jaws( three wraps on each jaw),it works for me.
