Which pistol should I choose?

Hello all!

I'm about to buy a new pistol and I'm having a hard time deciding between an H&K USP .45 Tactical and a Sig 220 Stainless .45. Anybody have any thoughts on the subject? Which tends to be more accurate? Are they equally reliable?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

    I like the H&K USP .45 it is a wonderful weapon. I havn't heard of problems with them. I don't know much about the Sig 220.

    This is a common problem.... The solution is quite simple...get the one you like best. After you have used it long enough for it to be a natural extension of your hand, you buy the other one. ENJOY !

    I would personnally opt for the Sig. A close friend just dumped his USP Compact for about half what he paid for it after 200 rounds. I have never had stellar results with the majority of
    USP's I've shot, with the exception of the Socom gun which was, pardon the pun, bullet-proof! Sig has been making that gun a long time now, and I figure they must have it right by now.

    As someone stated before, get the one that feels the best to you. Either one of these guns is amoung the best to be had out of the box. Something to consider is the fact the the USP has a polygonal rifling and the SIG is conventional lands and grooves. If you plan to shoot nothing but jacketed ammo then it makes no difference. If you plan to reload with lead it is my understanding that the USP does not shoot it very accurately. My son-in-law's and my brother's USPs shoot lead OK, but my SIG stainless shoots lead very well. Also the SIG is, I believe, a bit heavier which could be a negative if you are carrying it a lot, or a plus if you are shooting it a lot. My choice, SIG. If in doubt buy the SIG. Or if you want my advice, buy the SIG!

    The sig p220st is an outstanding pistol. I own one and think it's great. The usp design is getting great reviews but I'm not running out to trade my sig in. Buy the sig now, save for the usp later.

    Hi Tim,

    Whatever pistol you decide on, you might need a scope down the road. If you don't know how to choose the right one for your type of shooting (i.e hunting, competition, or recreational), then you might want to check out this article at: http://www.eer-scopes.com/article.shtml .
