Cost of Guns
My uncle passed away and a person stole his guns. We have proved this to the court. That person claims they no longer have the guns. I need to find out what the value might be of the guns so I can tell the judge and that person can be ordered to repay the estate for the guns. I don't have any idea how to get the values. I hope someone can help me.
The information that I have is from the gun permits that we found. The date given is the date the permit was applied for. The guns are older than that date.
If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Based on my experience in court, "telling" the judge the value of anything is not worth anything; you need to "show" him. And, based on your sketchy description, you will not be able to pay for any expert signed opinion.
I suggest that you buy a copy of "Blue Book of Gun Values" by Steve Fjestad, & do your best to identify guns similar in description & condition to the ones lost; circle the values, make photocopies of the relevant pages, & take the photocopies AND the book to court with you.
I'd be surprised if you can find a listing for the shotgun, but I doubt that it had any real value.

Just a suggestion, you may try looking at the auction site under "Completed Auctions" to see what they are actually bringing ... of course condition may be a problem .
