1885 Winchester Low Wall?

I have a .22 rimfire 85 with an original 24" barrel. Is it considered a rifle or a carbine?

  Hello John,
  
  A 24-inch barrel was standard for all of the Standard Sporting Rifles chambered for any of the various .22 rimfire cartridges. Most were low-walls, but a few high-walls were made as well (I have a really cool high-wall Takedown in 22 Short with a 24-inch No. 3 octagon barrel).
  
  There were no Model 1885 rimfire "Carbines" made. Winchester made two different versions of the "Carbine"... the high-walls were made with a 20 - 24 inch barrel (always centerfire), and the "Light Weight" Carbines were always centerfire low-walls with a 15-inch barrel (most often chambered for the 44 W.C.F. cartridge). Model 1885 Carbines are quite rare regardless of the specific frame type.
