Value of G.43 8537m ac44

Hello,

I recently obtained a rifle from a relative and have no idea of it's history or value. The numbers stamped on the rifle are as follows

side of bolt---G.43 8537m ac44
barrel--- d1k 38"

The rifle is missing the trigger guard but otherwise appears to be complete and original. The bolt actuates and the wood is in good condition. Any help in determining it's value is appreciated.

I do have several digital pics but not sure how to post them.

    The G 43 was a German semi-automatic military rifle that was made and used during W W II. They are very collectable now. The value of your rifle would depend on it's condition. The closer to factory original the better. The Germans numbered many of the individual parts of their rifles with the partial serial number of the rifle. Obviously the trigger guard missing would detract from the value of the rifle.










    Here is some good info on posting pictures.


    First thing you need is a site to host your picture. What I mean by that is that you will need to upload your pictures to a web site that will host(display) them for you. You should not use your hard drive to host pictures for safety sake. Use www.photobucket.com to host your pictures.

    After you have uploaded your pictures to the site that will host them for you(per their directions), the next thing you will want to do is go to the picture hosting site and view the picture. While you are viewing the picture, right click on it and you'll see another window that should pop up, now click on "properties" and copy the picture URL. If you know how to "copy & paste" this will be a piece of cake.

    Now that you have the picture URL and your ready to post your picture. Do the following, use the following code except take out the "*" asterisk. The "*" asterisk is used here only so you can see the code. In other words if I posted the code without the "*" asterisk you will see a picture instead of the code. Anyways use this code to post your picture..

    Your weapon was made by Walther in 1944. Triggerguards were not serialized (good for you), so find yourself a triggerguard and you will realize a couple of G's at current market prices. The last one I sold went for $2400.

    This value would "ONLY" be valid if the rifle is FACTORY ORIGINAL in EXCELLENT CONDITION or BETTER. If the rifle has been refinished, sportized/BUBAED in any way, it wouldn't come close to this value. Only by coryreid posting QUALITY pictures, would anybody be able to give him a valid estimate of his rifle's value.

    luckyly i have a trigger guard up for auction came off a duv 44 rifle though

    the thing that scares me is that we could be living in someone else's own reality

    Your going to have to trust me on this. "appears to be complete and original" means different things to different people. I personally believe that I will reserve my opinion, UNTIL I see quality photos of coryreid's rifle.

    Please don't misunderstand me, I wouldn't dream of standing in your way if you want to make Cory a generous offer, of say $1500 for it SIGHT UNSEEN.

    You can't be weaseling out on this deal now! You've made a verbal commitment, witnessed by everybody on the Net to buy Cory's rifle, that he describes as "appears to be complete and original", "Sight Unseen", for $1500. I'm sure it will fit right into your collection along your other one of a kind prizes, like the "PERFECT 98/40".

    Rufe, I have a G43 missing the butt plate. Any ideas as to where i can find one? Mine is in USED original condition minus a butt plate. Also not for sale by the way.

    Education is nothing if common sense and manners are not in the curriculum!

    I have enough parts to complete a receiver if need be. I do have a couple of perfect 98/40's. Along with most all 19th and 20th century German military weapons. It gives me the benefit of "hands on" rather than just picture posting.

    That's why you're so envious.
