old remington blackpowder rifle
i have a very old percussion muzzelloader that is only stamped with the word remington. looks to be about 32 cal, half stock, octagon barrel, and set triggers. would anyone know where i should look for history, identification, and value?

Most Likely I can be of some small service...Post a Photo and a Complete and Total Discription....And when I say a Complete and Total Discription...thats exactly what it implies...I want to know every last thing thats on this Gun....Marks, Numbers, Scratches, Dings and Dents and Names! Half Stock or Full Stock ? Original or Cut Down..? Barrel Length, Cut Down or Original? Sights? Original or Replaced..?
Octagon Barrel or Round Barrel..? Maple Stock? Walnut? Patch Box on the Stock? Does it have Escussions opposite the Lock Plate for the Screws...? Enlays? Engraving? What type of Butt Plate? Brass Work or Silver Enlays....Single Trigger or Double Set Triggers...? Post a Photo.......Best....
As an after thought...for your information...the caliber tells Me that it was a Squirrel Rifle......

I have a similar rifle I was going to post about. Mine is a half stock, heavy target octagon barrel with a snail drum percussion system, single adjustable hair trigger about .40 caliber. It's barrel is stamped Remington and also "Brown Maker". This gun was made I believe in the upstate New York area. Perhaps yours is close to this? Details help. 0 -
I have a similar rifle to the one hockeybuckeye has, except mine has the plain trigger, drum type percussion ignition and is marked Remington and Cast Steel on the bottom of the barrel. The back action lock is marked Steele and Lathrop. Emery
