Broken case stuck in chamber

Ive got a case stuck in the chamber of a Swede Mauser, the rim and web part came out with the extractor after firing, Front two thirds of the brass is stuck tighter than Ive ever run into before. Ive tried every trick and tool I know , it stays there. Any suggestions before I give up and go to a chamber reamer.

    The I.D. of the Swede Brass is the same I.D. of our 30-06 and 7.62 x 51 Military Cartridges. Get a Broken Case Extractor made for these cartridges and hope for the best. It's worth a try before you do anything as drastic as using a chambering reamer.

    Another possibility is to use Cerrosafe and create a cast 1/2" beyond the cartridge neck so the cast creates a shoulder at the neck and then use a close fitting brass rod to attempt to drive case and cast out. 1/4" bronze brazing rod should work. Also a heavy hammer works better than a light tapper.

    I can tell you what not to do. DON'T use a screw driver like my father-in-law's stepson did on a beloved 788. He screwed it really good.

    I have helped on a couple of occasions by using a new bronze brush on a cleaning rod through the receiver (bolt removed) and pushed into the bore. Reverse your pull back through the receiver slowly. The bronze bristles should catch the neck of the cartridge and pull it back. If this doesn't work, push the brush up throught the bore again but this time when you pull it back and contact the cartridge case, use a can of compressed air held upside down and squirt it into the brush and the case. The cold should shrink the brass case away from the side walls of the chamber, releasing the stuck portion.

    i've remove many case bodies useing buttet casting lead (any lead will do, 50/50 solder, wheel weights, ect). 1st spray the chamber and stuck case with rem. oil (w-d 40, what ever) then make a 'damn' just up the barrel from the chamber, stand the rifle barrel down and meld the lead in a small container that you can use to pour the lead into the chamber with. let the casting cool for a couple of minets and knock the whole thing out with a cleaning rod. like J.R. above said you cloud also use cerrosafe but it is expensive and the extra heat seams to help loosen the stuck case. the lead will also shrink more than the cerrosafe and be easyer to remove.

    Thanks you guys . The cerrosafe and lead molds might do it . I will let you know.

    Put the barrel in the freezer for a good while and the case may contract and come right out with the help of a cleaning rod.

    Just to let you know ,I finally got the case out using a method from Brownell's book Gunsmith "Kinks" .
    You plug the end of the case neck so it cant run into the barrel,I used a bullet, just dropped it in and pushed it through until the base was at the end of the neck.Then fill the case up to the rear with epoxy. I used the 2 part putty type that you can knead , I rolled it out cylinder shaped and dropped it in the case until it was packed ,no runover mess. After it set up overnite one good whack on a rod down the barrel with a fairly big hammer broke it loose. After a good cleaning I cant see any damage.
    If you dont have the Kinks books, they are up to volume 4 now, they are fun to read and really loaded with been there and done that info. I asked my wife to give me a volume for Christmas,birthday etc. until I got them all. They are great.
