Will a mauser 98 bolt work in a turk 38 8mm mauser dated 1944?

  Generally speaking, yes it will fit the action. Headspace and function is another issue. The operation of the sear and safety may need attention and always check the headspace with the proper gauges.

  A Turk 38 is a Model 98 Mauser, so I don't understand the question.

  Allen, I think what confuses some people is that although the Turkish Model 38 is a 98 action, some of them had small shank and small threads the same as the Model 96 and other early mausers. The bolt is the same but these will not except the normal 98 barrel without extra machining. I have a model 38 that I put a 6.5x55 Swedish Model 96 barrel on and it shoots great.
