Auction Camera whats good.

Picture is worth 1000 words. What kind of camera do you use for Gunbroker gun pictures. Long guns and pistols.

    I have 3 Nikon digitals and they are the best, the one I use the most is the model 4300. When you upload the pics they make their own directory and the file names are never the same (unless you go over a million)

    I've been using an old Sony MVC-FD75 that focuses down to 1 1/2"; not a lot of pixels, but great close-ups.

    I just got a Canon A520 that is supposed to focus down to 6", but I'm still having trouble figuring out how to get clear close-ups. You may want to try any camera that you are considering buying.

    For my uses, any 3 meg pixel digi. that has a USB connecter.

    There's a lot of good cameras out there now. Taking pictures has been a topic on some other threads, so you might want to do a search. If you want to get really great pictures, you should try less light and longer exposure which would require a tripod and remote so there is no camera movement. But you would need to make certain the camera you purchase can make these types of adjustments.

    The little Minolta DimageX has always been a nice camera for auction photo's
    and the price is reasonable for a 2.0 meg camera.

    Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

    What's your budget?? How else will you use the camera? Go to a camera store and pick up the different models for feel. Too heavy? Too small for your hands? Are the menus intuitive, or will you have to carry the manual with you?

    Generally speaking, I recommend getting as many pixels as you can afford and staying with the major brands (Canon, Minolta, Nikon, Pentax, Sony).
    Shooting sports? Get a longer zoom. A good macro capability for getting fine details of your firearms is a must.

    Not for Auctions, but I use a Nikon CoolPix 5700. Great Camera, about 7 bills.

    I have Nikon CoolPix 5400 that takes AWESOME close-up photos (it can focus on an object that is a mere .4 inches away). I use it for all applications, as it has a 4X optical and 4X digital zoom and is 5.1 Mega pixels.
