I heard Remington changed the name of its old 244 Remington to the 6MM .....Can you shoot 6mm cases in the old 244's ....

  Yes you can.
  The only differance in the two cartridges is the barrel twist rate.
  The .244 was introduced first with a one in twelve inch twist rate. It would not shoot the heaver bullets well and was a poor seller for Remington. It was re-introdeced later as the 6 mm Rem with a one in nine or ten twist and performed well.
  My 6mm Rem was a good shooter.

  Hmmmm....6mm[8D] Yep, Remington's .244 had too slow of a twist rate for heavy 6mm pills. This gave the .243 Winchester cartidge an enormous surge in popularity which the 244/6mm never really recovered from. The 6mm will outshoot the .243 any day of the week though. Rumor has it that it'll outshoot the 25.06 too[}:)]
