export to Australia

I want to buy some of the rifles for sale but note that all say no international sales. Is it possible for dealers to export rifles to Australia or have the manufacturers got a monopoly on the marke? I can get the appropriate import permits here.

    You would need to go through a dealer that does exporting. I only know of one that does it and I know there is a lot of paperwork and wait time involved. If you'd like to persue drop me an E mail.

    Go to www.simpsonltd.com On there web sight is a page on import and exporting of firearms, Bob has been doing over seas buisness for years, but I would have no idea what they charge.

    G'day David: The best advice I can give you is to go down to the Local Customs House and have a talk with them! What with all the stringent Gun Laws in effect these days in Oz...it's best to go to the Top of the Government Chain and get the whole story rather then get information thats not consise and factual...The Custom House in Fremantle worked with me to get a pair of BSA Martini Cadets home to the States 5 years back...Was smooth as Silk..Cleared the Perth, Police Department....Then Customs and Home free....My Having a CCW Permit was a Big Help....It showed that I was a Good Guy and that was Good enough to get Me home without the usual 6 months wait....
    If Memory serves....it was in HOBART that the reason for all the stringent and currant Gun Laws got its start.....Check with Customs....save a lot of shoe leather...........

    True, but....

    I'm one of those many folks who refuse to sell guns (or anything else) outside of the US. I'm afraid of losing my money, or having it tied up for months due to bureaucratic delays. There have been several international scams involving forged money orders & bank drafts; I really don't know how to be sure that payment from another country is valid.

    As far as guns go, the US Department of State maintains a "Munitions List" that prohibits the export of many guns & anything else that may have military use. I'd have to get a letter from them stating that the item I have sold is legal for export; that could take months. I just don't want to get into that.

    You are just going to have to accept the fact that most US sellers are not going to ship internationally, no matter how much homework you have done.

    According to a friend "Down Under",almost all firearms were seized and destroyed by the government in Australia. My friend's brother owned some high grade shotguns before the restrictive laws went into effect. I understand that the price of PVC pipe soared about the time of the weapons consfication. Gives new meaning to the term "Digger".
