Thanks everyone for the sound advice. I've decided to take next weekend off and go back to Texas. I signed up for a handgun class, so ill be able to take care of getting my license. Im looking into the Taurus and Springfield XD which yall have recomended. Also still the Glock. Is .40 what yall would go with? Also, if you have a hand permit are you still restricted from buying guns only in Your state? Couldn't have asked for better advice. If you have any other comments let me know, I'll let yall know what I decide on.

    Any kind of firearms permit is issued by a state; it's scope is determined by the state, but it only has the rule of law within that state. Some states will honor a CCW permit issued by another state, but that only affects CC.

    Federal law covers transfer between nonlicensees/licensees in different states, & the Feds have no interest in whether or not you have a state permit.
