45lc hunting ammo
I have been trying to find out if there is a good hunting load available for the 45lc. All I have been able to find is cowboy loads. Any imput? Thankyou..

You don't sound like you reload your own so I am assuming you want a recommendation on something available "over the counter." Check out places like MidwayUSA.com as they do mail order ammo sales. You should be able to find a wide assortment of ammo like the Winchester SXT and others that have fine Personal Protection, (Hunting), ammo. Good Luck!

Hello, Try searching in the collectable Ammo section and it will come up from time to time. The alternative is find someone to reload them for you.

I guess it would depend on what you're planning to hunt but Winchester has 45 Colt in 225gr hollow point w/ a muzzle velocity of 920fps compared to your typical cowboy load of a 250gr lead flat nose w/ a 750fps muzzle velocity.
CCI Blazer has it in 200gr jacketed hollow point w/ a 1,000fps muzzle velocity. The only problem with CCI Blazer 45 Colt is they appear to only come in unreloadable aluminum case.
Buffalo Bore has it w/ 325gr flat lead ball w/ a 1,325fps muzzle velocity which they say is suitable for big game up to 1,000lbs.
Grizzly has it in +P w/ a 260gr jacketed flat nose w/ a 1,350fps muzzle velocity which they rate for big game hunting. They also have it in +P w/ a 300gr lead flat nose w/ a 1,250fps muzzle velocity, rated for large game and +P w/ a 300gr fmj w/ a 1,225fps muzzle velocity also rated for large game. And also in +P w/ a 335gr wide lead flat nose w/ a 1,175fps muzzle velocity.
PMC carries it in +P w/ a 300gr jacketed soft lead point w/ a 1,250fps muzzle velocity rated for hunting.0 -
its a little on the pricy side but CorBon makes a fantaatic hunting round , its called 45 Colt Magnum +P 265gr Hp Bonded Core at 1350 fps, with energy of 1073 FT/LBs ,, this stuff was acurate as hell out of my scoped Ruger Redhawk and knocked the daylights out of a good size WI buck

CorBon's 300gr jacketed soft point +P, at 1350fps & 1126ft/lbs sounds like a pretty good hunting round as well. 0 -
If you have a strong revolver like the Ruger blk hawk, You need to reload, I load mine up with 255 gr cast bullets at around 1100 ft pre sec. Can go higher but see no need to. 0 -
Thanks for all the imput, I will check out some of these web sites. I dont reload and these type of ballistics are what I was looking for. 0
