[sub]COMPACT.22 POCKET PISTOL?

I am looking at Beretta 21 Bobcat VS Taurus PT22..I thought I liked the Beretta,cause it is DA,and the Taurus is DAO. They look to be about the same physical size,but what about dependably??? I have not even held either yet..Going to the gun shops to check em out...What can you tell me about them, or other suggestions?? OH, ALMOST FORGOT..WANT AS A CONCEALED CARRY WEAPON [YES,I HAVE A PERMIT] 1911A1 is the only way I go,but shorts & T-shirt weather is here!!

    I dont know anything about those but I carry a Colt mustang (.380) durring the summer time. It is very small but still has some stoping power, I load it with Corbon ammo. It is small enough to be concealed behind my open hand, and lite enough to carry in a pocket.

    My pont is that the Mustang is very simillar in size/weight to most small .22 pistols. I would rather have a .22 then nothing as well.

    Steve, I have had my Taurus PT22 for quite a few uears and it has performed flawlessly. It has never jammed and is fairly accurate considering it is DAO. I too carry mine when it is hot and the other ones show too much with a t-shirt. They are a bit wide though. As far as dependability, mine gets a thumbs up. I just hope I never get into a gunfight and that is all I have(knowing there are a bunch of hoglegs I could have carried). I have read some negative feedback on this forum concerning the PT22, but mine has been good to me so far.

    NNCID; yea,I am with you...22 in the chest might just make a crackhead madder...380 is better..9x18 next up..9MM,on up to 45ACP and MORE,but each stage gets a BIGGER delivery device..I'm not paranoid, and only carry where LEGAL and on certain occassions[sp].. DDALINGER;thanks..have you fired your PT22 much,or just occassionally[sp]...What tha!! How DO you spell ocassion[sp]????

    Steve, I don't shoot it as much now as I did when I first bought it. I guess it has had around 1000 rounds put through it. The reason why I like it is, most small pistols are very finicky and tend to jam easily. I have let this gun get pretty dirty and it has never jammed. My buddy has about 4 different .380 autos he carries and I personally do not care for them. I've seen them jam, stovepipe and they are not real accurate. This is just my opinion.

    Dr. Don..thanks for that..I have ALREADY decided that .22 is what I am going for,and I will keep your info in mind when I "shop around"..OH Yes..my main arm will always be the Colt1911 MkIV I have carried since '72...

    Looks like this is about semi-auto pistols. But have carried a North American 22 Magnum revolver for years in my front pocket (pocket holster). Said to have the power of 32 Auto and is compact. One needs to practice and learn to hold on to this pocket rocket.
    Now living in a more rural area so first one up is a shotshell for the Snakes found around here. Used it last week on a Copperhead that was near the dog kennel.

    I have both the .22 and .32 Berettas. Both are reliable. I usually carry the Tomcat loaded with Glaser Safety Slug in chamber and Corbon HP s in mag. Shot a fox with it two weeks ago with Corbons
