Interarms 7x57

I just purchased an Interarms Mark X in 7x57 cal. 18" Mauser "step" barrel with deep,crisp rifeling, walnut stock with cheekpiece. No sights but fitted with Leupold base and rings. Payed $300. What can/should I expect from this rifle?

  a lot of meat in the freezer? sounds like a fun rifle and a good brush gun.

  Thanks for the reply, Mike. I plan on useing it for deer and possibly black bear in northeastern Pennsylvania. I'm "retiring" my heaver rifles as at my age it's not fun anymore to lug heavyiron! I've had the pleasure to own many (100's) rifles but have never had a 7x57 mauser. This one is light, about 6#s, and in excelent condition. I'm retiring and moving up to my "deer camp" in Wayne co. Pa. as Culpeper co. Va. is being overrun by northern Va. at an alarming rate[:)] I'm also selling about 20 firearms locally to lighten the "load"! Dewayne E.   my 1st real deer rifle was a 7x57, put a lot of venison in the freezer. I'm partial to Hornady 139 gn btsp (had to shoot a deer lenght wise to get a bullet back). If you shoot factory ammo I'd try the honrnady light mag. loading.

  DEG305. Sounds like a fine rifle. I have always admired the 7X57. I too, have switched from a somewhat heavy rifle (9 plus pounds) to a lighter (7.5) stainless mountain rifle for use in northeastern, PA.
