Can anyone tell me a web site that I can get a ballpark idea of the age of a k 22 masterpiece by the serial #.

There is no on-line site for dateing S & W's by serial number, that I'm aware of.
If you could post a partial serial number. ( last two digets replaced with X's ). Perhaps one of our members who has access to the " Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson", could help you.

With that 5 digit serial number, it was born in 1948.

Nice gun...I think the K22 was the first to use the "K" prefix in the serial number.

Knucklehead, my wife has one in equal condition made in 1955, the year of her birth, she's old[}:)][}:)] but not as old as your K22. Her S/N has six digits.[:D]

Very nice looking revolver, is it yours? Are you planning to list it on the auction? I have a model 48 (22 mag)and would like to get a model 17, model 18 or a K 22 masterpiece to keep it company. I never ran into a K 22 owner that didn't like it.
