Stock Painting

I am looking to paint a remington model 7 synthetic stock. Any suggestions on types of easily available paints(walmart, hardware store, homedepot) that will work well. Additionally any information about how to make the spiderweb finish (like the HS presicion stocks) or any camo patterns would be greatly appreciated. Just looking for another project to do now tha the weather here in maine is finally getting better.

    Jones, Brownells has quite a selection of stock refinishing supplies. One that may work well on a synthetic stock is the "Wrinkle finish" Brownells part # 444-100-003 or #4D04X56. They are selling it for $6.30 per can. It is made by Krylon, so you may be able to find it at a hardware store. Brownells # is 800-741-0015 or look at it online www.brownells.com Good luck.

    Any of the hardware stores sell camoflage colors in spray cans. You can buy plastic flowers and leaves to use as patterns for the spraying.

    Do a search for 'Krylon Webbing Spray Faux Finish' for webbing in a can. The color selection is limited and you will need to practice on another surface first. Make sure that your stock is absolutely clean and grease free before applying any kind of paint. Use light coats and build up the color.

    the spider web paint has been available for decades if you are looking for that look as well. It is TRUNK PAINT in spray cans for automobiles[:D] It is often called "spatter" paint. Now keep in mind, HS Precision sprays on a polymer that is far different than paint, but the look will be similar.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    Rustolem has a textured paint in spray cans that will do a great job, and most Hardware stores carry it.
    Or use the Alumi-hyde from Brownells.com, it takes a while to dry, and cure but is very resistant to lots of things.

    Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

    This is one that I did , it's a pre J lock Remington 700 30-06. Is this what you are after , this cost about $25 and a few hours. Strencils are easy to make aswell as patterns.
