ATI Mauser Stock
I just purchased an ATI stock for my 1903 Turkish Mauser. I am finding that it doesn't seem to fit right and looks like it will need considerable modification around the bolt release latch, can anyone help?

The ATI stock has an interesting configuration.
It is a generic stock designed toi b=fitt almost any M-98 type Mauser. The problem is it dosen't fit any version great.
THe M-1903 that you have is a intermediate action and about 1/4 shorter than the M-98 standard versions. One screw hole will line up fine, but then the other is a open slot that the screw just tightens into. That might be the problem. Also the top part that the scope mounts on is not attached to the receiver or barrel just to the stock and will never hold a great zero.

Just thought I'd mention that the 1903 Turks, were all made at the Oberndorf production facilities for the Turkish govt. All the books I've read say this, as do all the experts I have asked. The 1903 is, the intermediate length actio with the odd bolt release. This make it a very desireable action, especially if it has all matching numbers. I have one that I'm building up as a 6.5x284 as full on custom rifle, so don't think of it as just a cheap Turk. 0
