.300 Win Mag resizing set up

I have fired a new batch of brass in my .300Win Mag. When setting up for neck sizing what is a good length to size down the neck. I know that going all the way to the neck shoulder junction is too far. Is about .150 far enough to hold the bullet. It is shot in a TC encore so bullet setback in the magazine is not an issue.

    I assume this is a NK die? if so, then size about 1/3-1/2 the neck as a rule. Some guys have their preferred depth, but if the heel of the bullet is at the base of the neck/shoulder junction, then that will do. If it is higher, maybe less with more nk tension, if it is lower, maybe less depth. But as a rule, go with about a bullet dia. That is my way, others may have other/better ways.

    If it is a FL die and you are trying to PFL size judging by NK sizing marks on the case, then die set-up is somewhat different.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    I'll assume that your using a Full Length die, and if so, them just adjust your die down to get about 3/4 of the lenght of the neck sized, and you'll be as fine as a princess.
    Another little helpfull hint is to tighten down the depriming stem lock nut only when you have tension on the expander when it is on the way out of the case.
    Another one is to have a piece of round steel turned to about 2 inches long, and put it between the die base and the press ram under tension, and use it to keep the die straight in the press while you tighten down the lock nut...
