Powder Horn ID HELP!

I don't know if this is the right panel to ask about this, but I'm not sure where else to start my search.
I have what appears to be an old powder horn, it's color is mostly very dark gray and measures about 17" long in a gentle curve. It has a wooden stopper which purtrudes about 3/4" beyound the end of the horn that has small grooves evenly spaced around the outside visible edge. The bottom side of the plug has round knob inserted into it, and it's also "cupped" about 1/2" just inside the outside edge. The top & the bottom of the horn itself each has hammered brass plates formed to the contour of the horn, the bottom plate is extended on the front side of the horn, kinda like a shin guard, each has a brass ring brazed onto it for a leather strap/thong. The other unique thing is that the top has a brass fitting w/ a spring loaded plunger. Lastly, at the bottom, "by Young" is carved into the horn and about midway on the horn the letters "ABC" are cut into it, I assume these are the owners initials.

    Hello, Check the brass spring loaded piece on the top. See if there is any markings on it. This would help to identify.

    From the photos provided in the link, I'm inclined to believe (this is only an opinion based on pics and a more definitive assessment would require a hands-on inspection) that the horn is modern, primarily based on color, shape, carving style and the inscription "by Young" which looks like it was carved with a Dremel tip. The brass spout may be old, but it was installed on a new horn (again, this is only an opinion based on photos, and as such may be subject to change after a detailed examination of the horn itself).
