Question on Rock River Arms

I am wanting to put a 44mm scope on a RRA 24" varmint upper it is NOT an EOP. Can I go with medium rings or do I have to go with large? The scope is a BSA 8-32x44.

  when I had a flat top bush master I had to use the extra high rings to get the right eye alignment with the scope ..
  
  the scope bell had all kinds of room but without those high rings you couldn't get you head low enough
