Stevens 67 loading issue

I recently purchased a Stevens 67 12 gauge(used). When I try to load the shells they will eject out as if there is nothing holding them in the tube. If I load it and put the slide back a little arm will hold them in and the shotgun will cycle correctly. I am wondering if there is a part missing or are they always like this?

    My 410 does the same thing. Load one in the chamber first & then see if they will hold in the magazine.

    I have a 20 gauge that does the same thing. Its not missing anything, its just a low grade shooter.

    mine had some trouble doing that as well the mechanism that holds the shell in the tubular magazine is of a less than desired design I took the part out and bent mine just a wee bit and it seems to have fixed the problem.
