drilled and tapped or cantilever barrel

Looking to buy a rifled shotgun. Was wondering which barrel was more accurate for mounting a scope. drilled and tapped or cantilever
Any info and or experiences would be a big help. The shotgun I'm leaning towards is the Rem 1187. Thanks

    get the cantilever barrel, that way the scope stays with the barrel if you want to use the gun for some thing else , plus its a better setup

    I agreee with gskyhawk. The cantilever is a much better setup.

    It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

    Hello imho a cantilever is the way to go on any firearm with a removeable barrel . This said a shotgun is not a varmit rifle that needs to be within a tenth of an inch at 100 yards

    If the gun is only going to be used with a slug barrel, mount the scope to the receiver, it is a much better way to mount the scope, more rugged, and you don't have to worry about knocking it out of alignment. If the gun is going to be used with field barrel, get the cantilever.

    I bought a Rem. 11-87 12 ga. cantilever special purpose in 1989. Put a 2 power Leupold on it and it's still dead on after all these years. Stay Safe ........................................

    Buy it. My 1187 with cantilevered barrel is one of the easiest to shoot guns I own. There are probably a few slug guns out there that might offer a little more raw accuracy but I've yet to see one that is more user friendly than the 1187 (or 1100) with the cantilever barrel. I don't shoot for groups much, but benchrested mine will do 1 5/8" @ 100 yards. Having the scope mounted to the receiver might allow for a tighter group, but who cares? Odds of you ever not getting your deer because you're 1187 isn't accurate enough are slim to none.
