turkish shotguns

I'm off to Turkey shortly and would heard they have inexpensive shotguns. Could please get some input on good brands for an o/u?

    Check out the Huglu line. They retail here for $800-1200. I have a 20 Ga O/U and like it a lot.

    Well, I recently bought a KBI Liberty II 20" 12ga-3" outside hammer coach gun that was manufactured in Turkey and I paid less than $400.00 for it and it is an absolutely beautiful shot gun. Check out gunbroker.com auction # 32200553 or 32351558 for pictures, not of the actual one I bought but of ones just like it that are currently on auction.

    Don't know about their O/Us but if the SxS I mentioned in my previous post is any indication of potential Turkish quality, then I imagine someone there makes a decent, reasonably priced O/U.

    Yesterday, I asked the board if anyone knew of the Sabre brand of shotguns. No one answered, so I had to find out for myself. Turns out they're Turkish made. You can buy them here at www.MitchellSales.com for $500. There is an article on the site trumpetting their reliability. I'm an "American-made" man, myself, even if it threatens to cost more.

    I purchased a "28 barreled, standard Walnut, 5 choke tube single selective trigger Artemis ($250 when I bought it last month...$350 when new)recently and have put around 1000 rounds through it thus far. Zero mechanical failures, the triggers sequence perfectly evey time the wood is really nice for regular grade (keep in mind the Turks have most of the remaining decent Walnut on the continent). I shoot a VERY challenging wooded sporting clays course in Wisconsin and though I still suck at it (I'm a hardcore rifleman and I get the impression the 2 disciplines don't play too well off one another!)I have gone from an average of 18 out of 50 (told you I'm not too good at this sport...yet)to 26 in just a month with the gun. I was using my friends Ruger for the first month of the league and could never get past the 20 mark, but with some time on the Artemis I have been able to bring my average up a ways.

    I feel these Turkish guns are generally speaking overlooked because of our perception of their manufactory abilities...serious mistake. Great bang for the buck. Also, I'm not too sure on this, but I think that Huglu is making Winchesters new O/U's and the one I've shot was a truelly fine gun that made my Artemis look like the ugly stepsister. Pretty or not, I still only shot a 22 with that gun. If you are planning on getting into clay sports of some kind, I would highly reccommend that you go with a less expensive gun along these lines. Finding out that it (shotgun sports)is not your cup of tea tastes alot better when you eat $400 as opposed to $2000 for a Berretta or other high quality gun.

    I have a Turkish 12 ga O/U by Sarcilmaz that I bought a year or two ago thru an ad in Gun List for $289. With S&H and shop fee it came to less than $350. It is a plain gun with two triggers, extractor, no screw-in chokes, etc. Fit and finish is very good and the stock is beautiful walnut. Internal workmanship is very good, much better than the low-end Russian Baikal which I also have. Checkering has quite a few over-runs that I was able to clean up pretty well. Haven't shot it a lot but I do like it.

    Where in Turkey are you going? I went to Insurlick AFB and purchased a few HUGLU OU 12ga. I only use them for decoration though. Even the owner of the shop warned me on shooting steel through them. I don't think the bbl is strong enough.
