Yet another Hi-Standard Question. . .Holster?
The question is, which holsters designed for other guns will fit a High Standard Supermatic with the 5.5 inch bull barrel? (slant grip, like in picture below).
Is there a standard "Uncle Mikes" holster that works? How about some funky milsurp holster?
Would a large frame revolver holster work?
Anyone have any ideas?

holstering a hi standard match gun? yes, there are holsters that are made for them. but holstering a hi standard? think of the damage youd be doing to it in the resale value area with holster wear marks on it! 0 -

Bob, its not for my match gun. That one is always cased when not in use.
I have a duplicate 103 as a backup, and I just want a soft cheapo holster to act as pistol rug for protection, or if I ever want to carry this one for plinking.
This one already has a reblued barrel; I'm not worried too much about the finish.
Apparently an Uncle Mikes #6 could work, but I was wondering if someone knew of a one with a covered flap closure that could work, or some other reasonable Flea-bay substitute.0 -

Why does your picture say it's a "Citation", but it looks like the "SharpShooter" with the site on top of the slide?
I've seen pictures of the High Standard "SharpShooter" and they appear to be built just like the Trophy's and Citations, but have the sites like the Victor.

I don't know all the details and various historical permutations of these guns the way the others do, but trust me, the one in the picture *IS* a citation. . .see where on the frame it says "Supermatic Citation" above the trigger where the barrel meets the frame?
The earlier Citations (like the one in the picture, and mine) have the sights built into the slide. The purists like these since that sight bridge doesnt get in the way of racking the slide.
The later ones (like the one you refer to) have that stupid sight bridge.
The Sharpshooter is basically the same gun as the Citation anyway. I think the only real difference is the finish, but perhaps one of the others can fill you in on the exact difference.
By the way, I wouldnt really mind if someone knew where a guy could get a functional holster for a Sharpshooter *OR* Citation!0 -
Some of the later Citations had the sight on the slide does the serial have SH as a prefix.?? 0 -

it looks like its a clean up production gun.
the giveaway is the barrel logos in the grips. that symbol is for the 'leisure group LTD' they bought out hi std in the late 70's and tried to turn it around. in doing so, they dumped a lot of models and cleaned up warehouses of parts and slammed guns together. btw...its not an SH gun. SH stands for'SCREW HEAD' the bbl would have a securing screw instead of the button.
here are some hints to the age of that gun being 1974/75.(104 series)
1. bbl logos in wood.
2. backlash screw in the trigger, not in the frame.
3. shape of front blade.
4. the font on the slide is not italisized. its suppose to be //// tilted, not vertical like this...HIGH STANDARD.
5. w/o seeing the other side of the slide, i'd bet there is no serial number on the slide. if it says 103, its because it was put in a long time ago and put on the shelf unfinished w/o a hi std logo on it yet.
if all it has is a serial number w/o a series, its a 74.
6. does the slide and bbl have grooves on top? if so, they are citation parts. if not, they are tournament parts slapped on. does the frame have stipling front and rear o nthe grip? should be. if not, they slammed a tournament together and called it a citation.
still.......that gun will out shoot any ruger any day of the week.

Well, now I want to hear more about the SharpShooter!
Karl once told me to buy a Victor so I could mount a red dot sight (since we're all getting older).
What is this mysterious SharpShooter? I think I've seen two in the past year. With all the information above, I am wondering if it was just an enigma.

of all the match grade guns hi std made, the sharpshooter was the entry level gun.

sharpshooter lacks the nice extras i/e: adjustable trigger, sear adjustment, stipling, but still has adjustable sights and pushbutton takedown.0 -

No. I lifted that picture of the Citation from the net.
The one I want to holster is similar, but mine has the H/S eagle logo on the grips, for one thing, and is made in Hamden. I believe the serial number checks out as having been made in '64. (I'd have to check out the other details and get back to you).0
