King Nitro by Central Arms Co. 22S-L-LR Pump
I do know that it was possibly made by W.H. Davenport for Shapleigh Hardware Co., St. Louis, MO and the Central Arms Co. is also from St. Louis. I am at wits end![V] Does anyone have or know about this firearm? My grandfather traded a shotgun for it at the Montgomery Wards in downtown Ft. Worth maybe 50 or more years ago. I can find no corresponding maker for this gun but have been told it looks like a Savage. I have found no model that Savage made that looks enough like it.
My problem is that the follower does not feed. I can load singles into the breach and it will drive tacks so I would like to get it operable.
Any help would be nice.

W.H. DAVENPORT ceased producing arms in 1900, so its doubtful your gun was made in there shop...
these guns drop dramaticly in value if there not in near perfect condition. going from NRA EXCELLANT to NRA VERY GOOD drops the value by 50%...
they are exact copies of STEVENS guns with different model numbers and brand names...
parts for a corresponding STEVENS model might fit, but you chance of getting a correct fitting and function restoring part is near zero...
a good machinist might be able to fabricate the parts you need if you have the broken original piece for him to work from...

Can you give a little more info. Alot of companies made guns with the King Nitro label. Is it a tube fed, mag loader, shape of barrel, etc. Do you have a picture?.
I collect pump 22's. Mrmike is probably right, that it may be a Savage. It could be made by another company also.

Mr. Mike is a dealer/Troll who comes here to advertise free. The only King Nitro mentioned in Balderson's eithth edition is a single shot which helps you not at all. He is simply blowing smoke up your skirt and has previously been banned from the site for just this kind of trash. 0 -

Sorry to come in so late on this thread. I am rather confident that the gun being discussed is a private label Saveage Model 25 made for Shapleigh Hardware, St Louis. The Central Arms Company is a trade name for Cresent Firearms Co., Norwich, CT,1893-1930 (owned by H. G. Folsom Company, a major distributor at the time) who was bought by J. Stevens Arms Co in 1930. (all of this was found in Schwing's Standard Catalog of Firearms) Private labeling was/is a fairly common occurance. Most recently done by Sears, Montgomery Wards, Gambles, Coast to Coast etc. Most of the time these private label guns are built a "little cheaper" than the corresponding Brand name model. Hardwood instead of walnut stocks, smooth instead of grooved forearms etc. I hope that this helps. 0
