Best Target .22 Target Rifle

I had a Remington 513T as a kid learning to shoot. Along with a target pistol I am going to get a rifle for the kids and me. I can get a 513T in real good condition for $400 - $700. What else is out there as an alternative for comparable money. I learned alot about pistols from this forum (thanks bobski!)

    Hello, a Winchester 75 is another good option. It is accurate and the sighting set is a dream. Luck!

    Ruger 77/22 cost is about $350-500.

    Hello I know I will get FLAMED BIG TIME but I have never liked the Ruger factory trigger group you can get a replacement but IMHO i would look at what CMP sales has available they had new KIMBER match rifles for sale at Perry the last 2 years for $500.00 they had a bunch of WINCHESTER 52"s also. I like my REMINGTON model 37 but too heavy for kids.

    If you are trying to bring young shooters into real competitive shooting then go with an Anschutz. These are the world class target rifles. Used Anschutz rifles can be purchased with iron sights or scopes depending on your needs. Good ones will be well within your budget. Lock time are the fastest and triggers are the best IMO. Nothing else really can compare on the upper end of competitive rimfire rifles.

    go to the DCM/CMP website and order a surplus match 22 rifle.
    mossberg U.S.44's are good rifles and of course the winchester 52 are tops.

    You might like the Remington 541X; CMP sold a bunch of them, but you should be able to find one (new) on the resale market in the $450-500 range.

    Or you could get a Thompson Center "Contender" and have two (or more) guns into one with superb accuracy. Here is my T/C Contender with a "rifle" barrel and stock in .22LR-Match with both a long eye relief scope and micrometer "Merit disc" peep sight. The barrel is sixteen inches, and longer/heavier barrels can be gotten. I also have an eight inches barrel in .22LR-Match with adjustable rear sigths. Either barrel will shoot "holes in same hole" all day. In addition you can get many other barrels in other calibers.
