Those little NAA revolvers?

Are these things any good? I like the looks of the new 17hmr with sights and a "real" grip. How is the trigger? I have heard a short barreled 22 mag before - painfully loud and ear shattering. Has anyone heard a short barreled 17hmr. They are kind of pricy - I would expect quality to be real good.

    I have shot one! very loud and lots of flash. The problem I can see with a short barrel 17 HMR or 22 WMR is there is too much powder to burn in the short distance. It is very impractical, however, if you want to be flashy and scare the @$%& out of someone, they are a lot of fun

    Well, the NAA in .22 mag has been around at least 20 years, & I haven't heard of any problems. I have fired .22 mag derringers, & aerogenius is correct; the cartridge is designed for a rifle, & you will get reduced MV & ME in a short barrel, not to mention a muzzle flash a foot long. But, I like that! Shoot one at a perp at close quarters, & you will either set his clothing on fire, or the blast will cause him to lose control of his sphincter muscles.

    That having been said, there are several better CCW choices in .380 & 9mm that will easily fit in your pants pocket.

    I have had a NAA .22mag derringer for 19 years. A friend gave it to me as I was driving through alot of the southeast staying in cheap hotels as I got my sales business going. I would stop in empty areas of Central FL practice with it. It is not accurate but mmyers is right it is loud and scary and fun. Actually hitting something with it though, is a bonus.

    Yes, they are good. I have the 22 combo. Yes, loud. I'll probably go for a 17 sometime. It's a well made product that does what you should expect.

    The literature will tell you not to try to take one apart beyond removing the cylinder for cleaning. It takes a special tool to remove/install the main spring and without the tool you will break the spring. I learned this personally in a more foolish moment. [xx(]
    NAA graciously repaired it for me, but only after telling me how foolish I was.[B)]

    Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons.

    A .22 LR NAA has a home in my front left pants pocket, and has for over 25 years!

    Here's how to shoot one of those little pistols a little bit more accurately.

    1. If you're right handed, hold it in your left hand, with your index finger wrapped around the grip.

    2. Wrap your right hand around your left, in a somewhat traditional two-hand grip.

    3. Your right hand is then wrapped over your left hand, which is holding the pistol with your left index finger.

    4. Cock the pistol with your right thumb, and use your right index, 'trigger', finger, to fire the pistol.

    Practice drawing and firing the pistol this way. You'll soon surprise yourself how quick you can draw and fire the little pistol, with accuracy too!!

    I too have one of the .22lr models and I sincerely think I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn even if I was INSIDE it! [:I]
    I have a factory wallet holster (which I have heard isn't legal, but I haven't found a place on the ATF site where it says that). However, it makes it slightly more accurate. In all honesty, I won't ever buy one again. If I were to buy a NAA product it would be their new .32NAA semi-auto (the one that uses a .380 acp round necked down to .32). I think their new autos are very nice, but a tad on the heavy side so I chose the Kel-tec P3AT (.380acp) and it is perfect. It is light enough to carry it without knowing it's there. It is small enough to easily fit into any pants pocket and there are holsters available that keeps the gun from "printing" yet stays in the pocket when the firearm is drawn...
