Rimfire Rifle Cartridge---Large Paper Patch

I have a large rimfire cartridge measuring a total loaded lenth of 2 1/4 inch with 1 1/2 inches in case. It has a rim diamter of 5/8 inch with an approximately 38 caliber bullet. There is a C marked in the center of the primer area. Any guesses?

    If it looks like these, it's the 41 Swiss Rimfire. These were used in the different models of the Vetterli Military Rifles/Carbines that the Swiss Military were armed with between 1869 & 1888.

    333, I'm sure you have a .41 Swiss as rufe-snow noted. AFAIR, this was the only RF rifle cartridge loaded with paper patch (there may have been some of the esoteric metric types as well). The "C" is likely raised in a depressed circle? If so, it was produced by Kynoch for Caverhill & Learmont of Montreal. This headstamp is a pretty scarce loading & likely would bring at least $25 at auction if in decent condition.

    Well, from the Cartridges of the world and what you have stated it appears you are right. My measurements were a little off until today when I used calipers.

    Iconoclast---The C is rasied and in a depressed circle.

    First thing you need is a site to host your picture. What I mean by that is that you will need to upload your pictures to a web site that will host(display) them for you. You should not use your hard drive to host pictures for safety sake. Use www.photobucket.com to host your pictures.

    After you have uploaded your pictures to the site that will host them for you(per their directions), the next thing you will want to do is go to the picture hosting site and view the picture. While you are viewing the picture, right click on it and you'll see another window that should pop up, now click on "properties" and copy the picture URL. If you know how to "copy & paste" this will be a piece of cake.

    Now that you have the picture URL and your ready to post your picture. Do the following, use the following code except take out the "*" asterisk. The "*" asterisk is used here only so you can see the code. In other words if I posted the code without the "*" asterisk you will see a picture instead of the code. Anyways use this code to post your picture..
