New Taurus 24/7 Experiences?

Hello everyone.As you can see I am new to this forum.I have been looking for 2 new guns.One is for the home and one is for carry.The one I am concerned with right now is the one for home.I read a review in a gun book I checked out at my local library that gave a very good review of the new Taurus 24/7.I am looking at possibly getting one but would like first hand unbiased opinions on whether it is worth the investment.Im not sure of the caliber yet either.I can handle the recoil of all three 9mm/.40s&w/.45acp.I am a little sketchy on the .40 because I feel if I am going to be handling more recoil than the 9mm than I should go all the way up to a .45 and skip the middle ground but 17+1 of good 9mm ammo is very attractive when its to protect your house.Sure I might not need that many but what if I did?It would be nice to know that they are there.I really need experiences here because I dont have anything right now and I would like to purchase what I plan to keep and have looked into and reviewed as much as possible.By the way I am also considering a Sig-Sauer P-226 in 9mm.Any help is so greatly appreciated.

    CTR, I know a guy that bought a 24/7 and it seems to be a OK gun if you can shoot double action only. I'm not sure if they are all DAO, but his is and I personally do not like a DAO. If you can afford the Sig, get it. I personally would get the .45 ACP. An old military friend had a Sig .45 and it was a nice piece. I have the Ruger P90 and I like it. I feel like I can get it done with 7+1.

    I've owned Taurus semi-autos and I like them for all the reasons you give plus the fact it comes with a lifetime warranty....but....I personally have an EAA Witness P-Carry in 10mm with ammo from Double Tap. I kind of slice through the mid-ground of your reasoning and I also like the SA/DA that a witness has as standard equipment.

    Go figure...this from a guy who loves S&W "K" frames.

    I shot a friend's brand new 24/7 in .45 this past weekend and I am sold. Felt great in my hands and was by far the most accurate of the five handguns we had at the range, including my brand new Glock 23. I plan to pick one up before the price goes up. I don't think the .45 really has any real practical advantage on the .40, but you should go with what you trust.

    I purchased a 45 stainless 24/7 about 3 weeks ago, it is my 1st seim auto handgun and i like it very much for a $325.00 under the seat gun. I have fired almost 100 rounds through it without a single failure. the trigger pull is very heavy but i am able to put 12 out of 12 shots in a torso size box at 20 yds. It shoots to the point of aim with 240gr bullets but shot shells are almost a foot low at 5 yds. Mine was easy to take apart but then i didn't read the instructions to get confused.

    I must tell you, I used to think Taurus guns were garbage. This was primarily due to everyone else's opinions not mine. I bought a millenium in 9mm about 5 years ago and I am not a big fan of DAO guns but I was extremely shocked by the accuracy produced by this gun. I also have a Sig 226 and I actually shoot the Taurus a little better. I say save a few dollars and go with the Taurus.[:D]

    I have both a 9mm star and a 40 cal Llama between 9 & the 40 there is not that much differance to me

    HAVE MANY HANDGUNS FOR CARRY PROTECTION BUT FOR MY HOME I HAVE A 12 GAUGE SHOT GUN. HERE'S ONE REASON I HAVE THE SHOTGUN FOR HOME. THE VELOCITY OF THE 9MM,40S&W OR THE .45 WILL TRAVEL THROUGH THE DRY WALLS OF MY HOME AND I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY FAMILY, THEY MIGHT BE UP GETTING A DRINK OF WATER, OR HEADED TO THE BATHROOM OR GOING TO THE BATHROOM SO GIVE ME THE SHOTGUN, PREFERABLY A PUMP AND ALL SOMEONE HAS TO DO IS HEAR THE SOUND OF THE SLIDE ON THAT SHOTGUN AND THEY ARE LEAVING AND IT IS AN UNMISTAKEABLE SOUND, THAT PUTS FEAR INTO THE TWO BIT B$E ARTISTS.
