Scope Rings for a Marlin Model 883

I just bought one via Gun Broker http://www.forthehunt.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=31867993

Guy I bought it from says it is not a base mount system. He says it has the grooved bar system like a "ruger" set up. What is he talking about and what kind of rings do I buy to mount a scope on this pea shooter?

  It looks like small grooved like all 22's 3/8 i think.tks hedge

  Yep they are 3/8 for a grooved receiver , I have an 883 and got my rings at Bass Pro.

  Buy the Millet grooved receiver or (clamp on style) rings.
