Bell and Carlson, good deal or not?

Okay hopefully that does'nt get removed. I have been looking for a B&C stock for my .270 Savage for a while. This seems like a good deal when you consider that a new stock costs $200+. However, this one has already been glass bedded. What does everyone on here think? Go for it or let it pass? I don't particularily care about looks, as long as it is'nt broke or dinged up too mych, as this will be on a hunting rifle.

    before I bid I would want to see pictures of the actual stock I'm bidding on, other than that it seems ok

    If this guy can't afford a digital camera to post actual pictures, then he shouldn't be selling on the web. Fleabay, GB, or anywhere.

    I won't buy or recomend the B&C stocks. I've delt with several over the last few years and none had what I would call a stiff/ridged fore stock. I'd epoxy bed the barreled action as normal and would find that after I'd knocked the action back out after the epoxy had set that the fore stock would flex like an 1/8" away from the bottom of the barrel with minimal finger force. I generally will space the epoxy away from the metal, with a couple of layers of duct tape, out to the last inch or so of the fore stock. This means that the epoxy is in contact with the metal or tape all the way from the rear action screw to the tip of the fore stock, yes with release agent. It generally take a couple of good wacks with a rubber mallet to get it loose, and it seems that those wacks are enough to affect the set of the fiberglass fore stock. So if you decide to go that route, I'd suggest that you consider completely free floating the barrel. Other then that they were fine stocks, and the tan wed is a pretty good color combo.

    if you mean $200 indicates the "medalist" stock (sorry I didn't follow the link) then it is a great stock. Most folks don't know that B&C as well as HS Precision makes the rem700 composite stocks. The only way to tell the difference is to look in the barrel channel and find the stamp. The HS stock has a circle stamped in it and the B&C has an oval. You can not tell the difference unless you look.

    As far as the bedding, that is no big deal as it can be removed by the end mill at the gunsmith in minutes. I would however go to maybe $100 Max if it is in perfect condition with a 3 day inspection policy.

    EDIT./follwed the link and it looks the be a medalist stock. If you can get it for $100 that is decent.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
