Winchester 8 gauge paper hull shells
These shells are Winchester SuperX Industrial 8 gauge with paper hulls. Do they have any value? Thank you.

Limited appeal unless they are something unusual - e.g. factory bird / buck shot rather than the cylindrical slugs (and yes, they do make these for some bloody reason). Usually I get $2 - $3 for the slugs when I list them, but they don't fly off the shelves.

The 8 Gauge Slugs are used to clean KILNS...If You've ever seen or been in a Cement Plant and noticed the 100 Long Rotating Kiln...As it processes the Material it builds up Residue on the Cylinder Walls of the Kiln and has to be Blasted off with these 8 Guage Slugs....I've had the oportunity to actually Fire off several Rounds at the Phoenix Cement Plant in Clarkdale, Arizona...Makes quite a Bang.....

The kiln cleaning slugs are uaually zinc rather than lead. Remington also makes the shells. 0 -
Not sure if they use the 8 ga., but 12 ga. for sure are also used to knock klinker ash off of water tubes in the top of coal fired (lignite)generation plants. They said if someone who works there likes to shoot (usually the new guy) they send him up (about 200 feet up in plant). After a couple bushel baskets of shells it becomes a job someone HAS to do. 0 -
1971, summer job at Medusa Cement in Dixon IL. Finished rebricking a 300' kiln at 2 in the morning. Friend and I rolled the 8 guage kiln gun over to the door of a 2nd floor building and fired out into the quarry for 10 minutes. Our kiln gun was loaded loosely with 10 shells into a metal box and fed them one at a time as we rotated the breech. Picked up the empties, rolled the old girl (weighed 85 pounds) back in place and joined the others to collect out double time pay till 7 AM (we did actually earn it)!! 0
