Have any of you used a boresighter? Which one do you recommend?

    I have never used one. However, I know, like most things, you get what you pay for. Get the one that your budget will allow for and make sure it will work in the gun your using it for. I think I've heard that not all of them will fit any gun. Also, as far as I know, none of them are dead-on. They just get you in the ballpark.[;)]

    The will get you on the paper, that is all they are supposed to do. Getting the 0 dialed in is done at the range. I use a Bushnell, which has done an excellent job for me, but .22's are hard to get lined up.

    Some have rated the magnetic Leupold highly.

    Leupold magnetic , I have also had one of the laser boresighters. I personally prefer the magnetic.

    I have used them (borrowed). You know, a lot of dealers will bore sight your rifle for free. They are OK, but for as many times as you might use them perhaps not worth the money?

    We have two (2) different ones in our shop , we use them on a regular basis . Yes we do bore site scopes for free when we sell the scope and or do the mounting job ...Yes they will "get you on the paper" , we have developed a method to get most scopes very close with one of these ...saves us and the customer ammo .if you do a lot of scope mounting , may well be worth the price ...

    I have used one for years and Use them to record the scope settings on all my match pistols. This way I can carry a spare scope and if I have an equipment break down or have to remove the red dot for any reason I can mount the scope and be within 2 inches at 50 yards.Each pistol or rifle is slightly different but if you record what it looks like on the boresighter after you go to the range and zero the gun then as long as you use the same mounts you can change scopes and just set the new scope to the recorded setting. This may save a big hunt or match if you bring a spare scope and your bore sighter..

    I have a laser sighter and also a Leaupold Magnetic. Get the magnetic, it is much easier and more accurate.

    I bought a used one several years ago, still have it. If I had it to do again I would not buy one.[:0]

    It's hard to justify the cost of one if your only doing a few guns, but if you do a lot of them, the Sweaney Site-A line is a good one to have and you can get them from Brownells.com

    Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.
