Approx. value needed Garand and Carbine

I don't have pics or alot of information but I'm looking for an approximate value range (somewhat realistic!) for an M-1 Garand made by Winchester with a serial # around 1,200,000. I'm told the rifle is in very nice condition with the stock possibly? refinished. It has a very nice "gloosy" finish on it I'm told. The other is an M-1 Carbine also made by Winchester and I was not told of the serial # but supposedly it's supposed to from about 1943. It too is supposed to be in very nice shape with the RIA stamp on the stock.
I know it's difficult/impossible to value most/all guns "sight unseen" but I'm just looking for a range to offer a little direction. Military and Military weapons are not my "thing". The two guns are offered to me for sale and I just want to be fair with the seller and try not to over pay for myself!

    I'd figure they are worth ~ $500 +/- each. I'd probably subtract $100 for an import mark, & another $100 if the bore is worn or not bright & shiny.

    The collector value of the M1 rifle was mostly eliminated when Bubba got his hands on the stock. The carbine is either an arsenal rebuild or a parts gun. So, both are just shooters.

    WAG...about he same 900. to upwards of 1200. ,,depaends on so many things,,,you know Garand is not "original", so check M1 closely. imo.. nambu

    I, too, would like to find a fair value for an M1 carbine that I inherited . It was made by Inland Mfg. Serial #2929043, is totally unmarred, (was told it was unfired) has like new sling, magazine pouch, and bayonet with paper preservative still on it. I will be disposing of it and 11 other rifles, pistols, and shotguns as soon as I learn about all the shipping and selling rules and regs. I have pics I can email.
    I'd appreciate any advice or estimates,

    Ross, if you go to the Gunbroker home page you can follow the "Sellers" link & learn most of the laws concerning shipping firearms.

    You can also do a "Smart search" of completed auctions for "M1 carbines". I think that you will find that there is a wide range of prices actually paid. That is because the more "original" a carbine is, the more valuable it is. Your carbine could be worth $200 or $2,000, depending upon originality & condition. To get the most at auction, you will need high quality photos of every part, & you must be able to describe many tiny details.
