CETME Sporter 308 vs. CAI L1A1 vs. SAR-8 Alum Rec

I need your help. Can't decide which to buy or best value. Cetme sporter black 2-mags,$300.00 Like New. Springfield SAR-8 aluminum rec 2-mags. Excellent cond. $550.00 or CAI, L1A1 Imbel rec, 2-mags, leaper 3x9, rifle box, thumbhole stock, very good cond. $550.00

    Of the 3 you mentioned the Springfield will hold it's value the best. Heck at $550 thats a good deal!!! Check out these auctions:

    I bought my FAL from Ohio Rapid fire for $600, it's a carbine w/ an Imbel receiver.

    I have been less than pleased with my "like new" CETME. I think it is a good design (all three are basically the same)but how they get put together and with what makes for some disagreement. Mine had new and used parts mixed together. It was full of grime and junk. I haven't had a good day at the range since I owned it(it is pretty accurate though). It just hasn't worked right. I would say the springfield is the best buy followed by the L1A1 then the CETME. If you can find an original CETME then you would have a very good rifle. -Good luck

    Blckhrn is right. They are different. I use only cheap milsurp ammo through it and don't count on reloading. That still gets expensive to shoot!
    I am honestly thinking I should have saved the money and gone with an AR-10 type or really saved up and found an M1A.

    The three are not similar, the CETME or G3 clone is a completely different mechanism, being a roller delayed blowback as opposed to the gas system of FAL variants. Don't plan on reloading your brass after it goes through the fluted chamber either.

    If you're buying through online auction make sure there is a return policy. CAI has put together some pretty crappy guns.

    aluminum receiver SAR8s have spotty reputations... be careful. Springfield has a lifetime warranty on them but often they can't be reapired so SA gives you credit towards purchase of another of their rifles...

    FYI: I haven't had any problems with reloads in my fluted chamber HK91. Reload or not it is the most reliable of the semi auto 308's (and I've got most of them).

    Only recently started using a tumbler to clean the brass with the burn marks down the case. Now if I can just get my AR10 to be half as reliable
