Got 2 free guns today!

I went to see my former Scoutmaster and the owner of a gunshop here in town. He had heard I was going to a gunsmith school, and had a few guns laying around he did'nt need. I ended up getting what looks like a Carcano 6.5 that has had a very bad sporterizing project done to it, and a Stevens Model 39 .410 bolt action. I can tell the Stevens is going to become a new favorite very quickly. Now for the question part. Does anyone know where I can get a bolt for the Stevens? I tried Numrich, they are sold out> I have also tried the Wanted Ads of Gunbroker.

    Free is a great price.I have that same Steven's shotgun.I bought it in a pawnshop.The owner had it in the rack with 22 rifles.I asked to see the 22 on the rack with the blond stock.I opened the bolt to check out the bore and to my suprise,it had a big bore.The guy at the shop said I could have it for $50.00 and I jumped on it.I have no use for it,but I have always wanted a 410.

    Evil, if you ever decide to get rid of it, and I doubt you will, give me a shout. So far it looks like I am going to have a hell of a time finding a bolt for that gun. Congrats on your find as well.

    If you're going to a gunsmithing school, why not just make yourself one? That is part of the deal in gunsmithing school isn't it? If not, go to a reputable machine shop, and they can make you one, if they have good machinists. I've had all sorts of oddball stuff made for antique farm equipment like hydraulic valve body sleeves and weird bearings. A bolt for a .410 can't be any harder than that.

    Look closely Bill, I think you'll see that it is really a Stevens' "59"!!It will make a big differnce in you getting the part you want. Good luck.

    Don't know if it's the one you're looking for, but there's a Stevens .410 bolt on Ebay at this moment. Just type in Stevens bolt on the search line. I've been doing this for months looking for a bolt for my Savage 23D.

    Donld, thanks for that lead, I'll definately give it a bid, see what happens. Hickory, nope, I belive you posted this smae thing on my Wanted Ad. I really do have a Model 39. I'd be more than willing to take a 59 bolt of it would work.
