'54 Winchester .30-30 Still Has It!
Went out today and shot my new '54 .30-30 and was really impressed with the old girl. I was able to hit a 10" target with regularity at 100 yards with iron sights. I can see why people like these little jewels so much.

You gotta love them old levers. Every time I get my 30/30 out it honestly impresses me, dependable as they come, and accurate. I'm going to have to go shoot something with it this year. ( maybe I'll take it as a backup gun on my Alaska Moose hunt ). Last time I shot mine I bench tested it at 50 yards, it put 5 shots in 2" maybe a little under. Then went to 100 yards and it put 3 shots in 4" then I off hand shot it 2 shots and was in the black for both! 0 -
Snellstrom, I was shooting off hand while standing, I'm sure the ol' girl would have done a lot better if I'd park myself at a bench. Just a pleasure to shoot and I love the way she handles. I'm a new Winchester convert![:p]
P.S. I'm sure yours will be a great backup in Alaska!

my dad gave me his 1964 winchester 94 30/30, it still comes along with my 30-06 or 308 while hunting caribou and moose. accurate and reliable and fun to shoot. good luck on your hunt in alaska.

I was able to kill my first deer last fall with a 30/30 that my grandpa left me before he died. It is definitly my favorite to shoot. 0 -
Question here...not important though. Do you have a bolt action Winchester '54 or a lever action '94?
