German Mauser K98

I just bout A K98 Mauser. It's a 1943 rifle with a 1945 stock. The problem is when I shoot the handguard pops off because the to front bands slide. There is no cut in the stock for the band spring what can I do. Thanks

  consult a gunsmith, it is what they went to school for.

  Some 1945 bands on the late Kriegsmodells had a wood screw from the right side to hold the lower band in place. If your lower band has the hole, simply put in a screw.
  
  You also have the option of drilling one or finding a different stock. You also could use a VZ-24 stock as they're cheap as dirt.

  It really depends on how much you want it to stay true to its history. I don't know when the later stock was put on it, but you could consider looking around for a '43 stock. If you just want a shooter, cut a groove and install the spring. One shouldn't be hard to come by.
