Converting 2 3/4 to 3 inch-Ithaca shotgun
I have an Ithaca shotgun, 2 3/4 inch chamber, that I was wondering if it can be converted to accept 3 inch shells.
I have a friend who has a 3 inch gun-the dimensions of the loading/ejection port are identical to my gun.
I have looked at several parts diagrams, and the ONLY part that I found, that SPECIFIED 2 3/4 or 3 inch, is the slide. All of the other parts are compatible for either gun. Does converting my gun to a 3 inch only require swapping the 2 3/4 slide with a 3 inch slide? Are there any other issues?
Ithaca used to provide the service of making a 2 3/4 gun a 3 inch gun-they no longer do that. And asking them any technical questions about the gun is like asking them what is the meaning of life.

it will be cheaper just to buy a whole 'nuther magnum ithaca by the time youre done. a mag gun is a whole different monster and will require A LOT of gunsmithing work to convert. you must enlarge your ejection and loading port on your receiver so the spent shell will eject. your feed ramp must be smithed too. youre opening a can of worms.

This is not a real good idea, as the magnum aspect of it will beat the snot out of a regular receiver. That and lawyers are why Ithaca will not do this anymore.
Just to many problems arise.
