Arisaka rifle
I recently acquired a Arisaka rifle that has numerous differences from what I see on G.B. This rifle has no mum,never has had,the lettering between the two holes is farther forward leaving no room for the mum, and there is no sign of any grinding or filings it has a solid butt stock, no two piece tongue and groove. There is no serial # anywere on the outside, lastly it has a rack# painted on the stock. Do I have a t-38 training rifle?

I just acquired one of these.. a Type 38, 6.5 mm.. and have a question: Does anybody know what the two holes in the top of the receiver (Between the mum and the Japanese characters for "Type 38") are for? They are on each side of the centerline and maybe 1/8" diameter... and go all the way through. Thanks in advance. 0 -

Is it a 6.5 Jap....? Is the Chrysanthmum still intact or has it been Ground off the reciever...can you post a complete and total discription of the Rifle and Bayonet..Post Photos of all the Marks and letters and Numbers.....

If the Kanji runs horizonal (from left to right) across the receiver, it's a Type 99 and is 7.7 (You can also check to see if two of the symbols are the same!).
If the Kanji runs up and down the length of the barrel, it's most likely a 6.5mm.
