Winchester 1300 Defender material?

Hi again, is the receiver on a Win 1300 Defender aluminum or steel made? Thank you.[:D]

Not sure but if you got a magnet handy you can tell that way, if it sticks its steel if it don't its aluminum.

I don't have a Defender but want to get one. Somebody can place a magnet on it receiver to clarify the myth....[:D][:D]

Why would that be a problem? The bolt locks into recesses in the barrel, so the receiver is not stressed; it doesn't have to be steel. (I have a Stainless Defender, as I live in a salt-water area.)
It's a good gun for Close Encounters of the Worst Kind.

Alum. I've had one for quite some time and shot a lot of rounds thru it. Functions flawlessly. I even had the barrel threaded to accept winchokes.
