Rem '03-A3

Have a Rem '03-A3 that looks like it has fairly matching #'s. The bolt, stock and reciever all have the same S/N. Where else would I look to see how much more carries the same #'s. It is a CMP rifle purchased about a year ago. The barrel stamp is 9/43. I very seriously doubt it is all matching (highly unlikely) or original (even more unlikely) just curious. The rifle is darn accurate and a joy to shoot. Also what do you believe would be a fair ballpark value for this. I have no intention of selling it.

    I'm no expert on the subject but was told here that the three items you have numbers on are about it. Mine is a SC w/ SC barrel, I'm thinking '41 (?) but Remington bolt. I'd like a SC bolt for it.

    As far as price goes, I would say about $400, since that is what they are selling for at CMP.

    Yep, $400 anywhere but at a gun show or in a shop. Add a couple hundred in either place.

    Most US issued military firearms do not have matching numbers. The 03A3 left the factory with the serial # only on the receiver. Your rifle was mutilated by the Greek military, which stamped part of the serial # on the stock & engraved it on the bolt handle; if, like most Greeks, your rifle has a black finish, it has been reparkerized by the Greeks as well.

    If you leave your rifle in a car on a hot day, grease will sweat out of the wood. There is no way to cure this problem.

    While CMP is still offering these rifles for $400, you would be hard pressed to find someone willing to pay >$300-350 for it.

    The park is grey. Doesn't mean the greeks didn't work it tho'. Don't much care, still love the rifle.

    The cosmo is easily removed in a vacuum oven used for powdercoating or thermal barrier coating. Not everyone has access but the method is foolproof. Uses lower heat (350 or so) and essentially sucks the cosmo out. Rub in a couple coats of oil and you'll never see cosmo again. Maybe I have found the key to my fortune.
