FFL DEALERS WITH SHOPS

While down in FL. for a short trip, I found a toy at a gun shop that I just have to have. Question? If a out of state resident walked into your shop and had a signed FFL with him from his dealer in his home state, paid cash for the firearm and asked you to ship it via FEDEX to his dealer; would that be acceptable to you to do that? I have a chance to go back to FL. in May for vacation and would like to take care of business then. Thanks in advance.

    that should work ok, the fl dealer can check your ffl's correct shipping address at atf.gov ez check and then ship to him.

    That would be absolutely fine with me. There's no difference in that and getting the FFL in the mail.

    Works for me. If it was a long gun you should have just bought it right then and there as it is legal for non-residents to purchase long guns while out of state traveling.

    As your state of residence, Missouri I believe, has a contiguous state law (as Florida does) then a dealer to dealer transfer would be needed for all your firearms transactions in states not bordering on your state of residence.

    I would accept that, but as a dealer I would never give out a signed FFL to one of my customers. That is just asking for trouble if they make an over the counter purchase with it. How would you explain that to the ATF?

    Fine here also but Im with Moose about handing out signed copies of my license.

    Most FFL's will sell to another FFL, over the counter or ship to the premise. Your buying the gun and having the Selling FFL ship so there should be any problem. He may have a problem with over the counter because your name and The FFL wouldn't match, so don't be offended if want to call your dealer.

    Sometimes if a family member or close friend goes out of state, I will give them a signed copy of my FFL and a letter assiging them by name as a purchasing agent for me. There are instructions on the letter for the seller to notify me via phone for my approval prior to releasing any weapons to holder of the creditials.
